Your body is your business. So is your data. Here is exactly what we collect, why we collect it and what you can do about it.
The short version
- We only collect what we need to do the thing you asked us to do.
- We never sell your details. Not to advertisers, not to anyone.
- Your details are kept on our own website database, not handed to a marketing company.
- You can see, change or delete what we hold about you whenever you like. Just ask.
- We do not collect email addresses from anyone under 16 for our waitlist.
Who we are
Bloody Marvellous Limited runs bloody-marvellous.com. In data protection law we are the “controller”. That means we decide how your information is used and we are responsible for looking after it.
We are registered in England and Wales, company number 07885126. Our registered office is Oakley House, Tetbury Road, Cirencester, Gloucestershire GL7 1US. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, reference ZA838854.
Questions about your data? Email accounts@bloody-marvellous.com.
What we collect and why
| When | What we collect | Why and our legal reason |
|---|---|---|
| You join the waitlist | First name, email address, the age group you are signing up for, whether you are a parent, carer or teacher (for 11–15 only), the topic you most want covered if you choose to tell us and your consent. | To email you when your age group opens, to send you news if you ticked the box and to decide which age groups to build first. Consent. |
| You email us | Your name, email address and whatever you write to us. | To reply to you. Legitimate interests: answering people who get in touch. |
| You leave a comment | Your name, email address, your comment and your IP address. | To show your comment and to keep spam off the site. Legitimate interests. |
| You visit the website | Cookies and basic technical details such as your browser, your device and the pages you looked at. | To make the site work and to count which pages people read, so we know what to write next. Legitimate interests. If you say yes on our cookie banner, Google Analytics also helps us see how people find the site. Consent. |
Your health information
We do not ask for any health information on the waitlist. The “what do you want us to cover first?” question asks about a topic, not about you.
Please do not email us details of your own medical history. We are not able to give personal medical advice. If you are worried about your body, speak to your GP or call NHS 111.
Before accounts open on the site, we will update this policy to explain exactly what is collected and who can see it. Nothing new is collected until then.
Under 16s
We do not collect email addresses from anyone under 16 for our waitlist. Everything for 11 to 15 year olds will be free and open to read, with no account and no email.
For the Bloody Beginning age group, only a parent, carer or teacher can sign up. If you think someone under 16 has signed up, email us and we will delete their details.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the site and only what each one needs to do its job:
- SiteGround hosts our website and the database your details are kept in.
- Google Workspace sends our emails.
- Akismet checks comments for spam.
- Jetpack Stats (by Automattic) counts visits to our pages so we can see what people read.
- Google Analytics shows us how people find and use the site, such as which posts or ads bring them here. It only runs if you say yes to it on our cookie banner.
We may also share information if the law requires us to.
Where it is kept
Your details are kept in the UK, in our website database at SiteGround’s London data centre. Some of the other companies above may handle data outside the UK. Where they do, they must protect it to the standard UK law requires.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Emails to us: as long as we need to deal with what you asked.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it
- give you a copy to take somewhere else
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or you can simply email us. Asking is free and we will reply within one month.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser keeps when you visit a website. We use the ones the site needs to work. Anything else, including Google Analytics, only runs if you say yes on our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings. There is more detail in our Cookie Policy.
Other websites
We link to charities, helplines and the NHS. Some pages also include videos or posts from other sites. Once you click through or play them, that site’s own privacy policy applies, not ours.
Not happy?
Tell us first at accounts@bloody-marvellous.com and we will put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
When anything changes we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use details you have already given us, we will email you before it happens.
Your body, your data, your call. You are Marvellous.
